Major Duties

Under general supervision of the Director of University Counseling Services (UCS), the Athletics Case Manager works closely with the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine, to assist student-athletes in areas such as psychological health, physical health, social adjustment, relationship issues, interpersonal and sexual violence (sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, etc.), academic concerns, and basic needs (e.g., food, housing, financial concerns), through a variety of interventions, referrals, and follow up services. The incumbent works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of professionals (e.g., UCS colleagues, sports medicine staff, coaches, etc.) to support the holistic care of student-athletes and address their unique mental health/wellness and sports performance-based needs. 

  • Develops protocols and coordinates referrals within a timely manner, supports student-athletes in accessing and connecting to these referrals and the appropriate level of care, and coordinates follow-up care for student-athletes referred to community resources.
  • Coordinates follow-up planning for student-athletes returning from mental health related hospitalizations, and serves as consultant for student-athletes with disordered eating/eating disorders, working closely with physician and sports nutritionist.
  • Builds connections, consults with, and collaborates with on-campus partners, as well as off-campus community partners (e.g., behavioral health services, health care, and social services).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
