Lipscomb University, an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the ASUN Conference is accepting applications for one communications assistant. The full-time, ten-month position has a starting date of August 2022. The intern will work closely with the Assistant AD for Communications & Digital Media and the Associate Director of Communications in covering all 17 of Lipscomb’s varsity sports and will be the primary contact for assigned sports, serving as the liaison between the media, student-athletes and coaches.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary media contact for assigned sports.
• Implement publicity campaigns to increase fan engagement across all sports.
• Assist with the maintenance of the department’s website, archival information, records, photos, statistics, etc., including the creation of web/social media graphics packages.
• Will help run social media accounts and handle gameday stats for assigned sports and others as needed.
• Writing and dissemination of press releases; layout and design of assigned game notes and game day programs using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
•Assist with day-to-day operations of the athletic communications office for home events; travel to select events if required; collect and maintain statistical information; update and maintain sports social media accounts; and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in an intercollegiate sports information office at the NCAA Division I or II level.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Must be excellent at editing copy.
• Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.

• Familiarity with web site maintenance (SIDEARM), and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop required).
• Familiarity with Stat Crew (softball, tennis) and Genius Sports programs (basketball, volleyball, soccer) and website content management systems (SIDEARM) is preferred.
• Must be self-motivated with attention to detail and accuracy
• A bachelor’s degree is required with a major in journalism, communications, public relations or related field.
• Evening and weekend hours required along with some travel.
