Summary:
The Facilities Operations & Events Asst. will support the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities & Event Management by preparing venues for athletic competitions and events, certain special events, meetings, etc. The Facilities Operations & Events Asst. will also provide assistance with the day-to-day operations and light maintenance for all Athletics facilities.
Typical Duties
Event Preparation & Coverage
Essential
●Prepare facilities for all event functions (i.e. set-up and break-down of bleachers, floor cover, tables, equipment, etc.)
●Assist with, and oftentimes supervise, event changeovers at all venues.
●Event examples are: Practices, athletic competitions, other major Athletic Dept. events
General Facility Operations
Essential
●Assist w/ light maintenance items (light bulbs, office moves, equipment upkeep and repairs)
●Recycling and Surplus - collect and prepare large items for pick-up and/or proper disposal.
●Liaison with clients, vendors, contractors, and other Depts. within Athletics
●Keep all work and storage areas clean, safe and organized.
●Receive large deliveries, and assist with the moving & storage of all supplies & equipment.
●Utilize proper safeguards and procedures at all times to keep employees, staff, student-athletes, and guests safe while using our facilities.
Room set-ups & change-overs
Essential
●Prepare rooms/spaces for smaller events (i.e. to include the set-up and break down of tables, equipment, etc.)
●Event examples are: Classes, meetings, team meals, employee training, student-athlete functions, donor functions, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
●Ability to interact successfully with a diverse set of constituents; ability to follow multiple task directives; ability to prioritize and work a wide assortment of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
●General working knowledge of light maintenance and repair work.
●High level of mechanical aptitude; excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; general knowledge of public assembly facility risk management; and customer service skills.
●Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when required. (Includes inclement weather closings)
●Must be physically able and willing to lift and move chairs, tables, and other equipment (over 50 lbs.)
●Must be able and willing to use a ladder, work in high places such as at the top of a scissor or man lift, walk through bleachers and stairs, and perform other various physically challenging tasks.
●High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
●Forklift experience and/or license preferred.
●Experience working in a public assembly facility preferred.
●Must have a valid drivers license.
