Description:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Athletics and Recreation Graduate Assistant will assist both the Administrative Staff & Coaching Staff in the daily duties of the department and sport specific duties. Graduate Assistants in Athletics will get well-rounded experience in Athletics as they will assist in a wide range of tasks across all disciplines.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist with the scheduling, oversight, and execution of Game Day Operations
• Take on an active role in the collection, design, and distribution of all media (social media, live streaming, print, and audio)
• Provide support in recruiting efforts for the department
• Help with planning and set up for outside groups that rent the facilities
• Assist with Athletics’ signature events
• Oversee SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Council)
• Assist with other duties as needed or assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution and enrollment in Paul Smith’s College Master’s degree programs.
• Ability to work with a broad range of diverse individuals and groups to form a safe and inclusive campus community.
• Effective planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with student athletes, faculty, staff, and the community.
• Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, student, and constituent groups outside the college to support the continued enhancements and development of the Athletics & Recreation Department.
• Interest in Athletic Operations and enhancing the student experience.
• Ability to provide leadership to student athletes to encourage both successful academic development and competitive performance.
• Must live on campus unless there are extenuating circumstances.
• Is willing to work evenings and weekends.
