Organizational Relationships: Reports to Athletics Facilities and Events Manager
Summary: The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach works in close association with other sport coaches to develop systematic training programs for both teams and individual athletes to increase their athletic performance in specific sports. This is accomplished by developing the strength, speed, flexibility, or endurance, of student-athletes depending on the needs or the requirements of the sport. This work includes teaching proper lifting techniques, supervising and motivating athletes as they work out, and assessing their performance. 9-month, part-time position.
The purpose of the graduate assistant program is two-fold: 1. To assist with athletic department needs with the emphasis being to enhance the current student-athlete experience. 2. To develop the skills and knowledge of the graduate assistant in the field of sport management, as well as coaching through direct application. Part-time, 9-month position.
Work Performed - Essential Duties:
Seasonal Assistant Coaching if needed and where appropriate and based on skill set (up to 12 hours/week)
GA Position works to enhance the student-athlete experience per the needs of the athletics department in the following ways:
Provides 28 hours of committed time to GA position:
Facilities and Events Management (12-20 hours/week or as needed)
Sports Information Director Assistance (0-4 hours/week)
Administrative Assistance (0-2 hours/week)
Community Outreach (0-2 hours/week)
Seasonal Assistant Coach, if applicable (4:30-6:30 x 5 days/week for maximum of 12 hours for competition/practice)
Meets with Facilities Manager on a weekly basis to prep for week
Meets with AD two times/semester for feedback
Enrolls in graduate program no later than the beginning of term of starting date
Special Requirements:
Willingness to work nights and weekends
Ability and desire to obtain graduate degree in the field of sports

Minimum Qualifications:
Active (or pending) membership in the First Church of Christ, Scientist and/or in a Journal-listed branch church or society of the First Church of Christ, Scientist
Christian Science class instruction preferred, but not required
Bachelor’s degree; 3.0 GPA in major course work
Proven ability in at least one area of collegiate athletics
