About This Role:Lamar University is seeking applicants for the position of Marketing Graduate Assistant. The Marketing Graduate Assistant will be a member of the LU Athletics external team and provide support to the department’s 17 varsity teams. This position is a two-year position with the candidate pursuing a graduate degree from Lamar University.Pay: $6,000 a semester (to cover graduate tuition, housing, stipend)What You’ll Do – Position Duties As a member of our team, you will have an impact on our clients through accomplishment of the following responsibilities: Assist in creating and implementing marketing plans for assigned sports Create strategies for fan engagement and attendance, including student engagement and attendance Assist in the recruitment and training of interns within the external affairs unit Act as marketing liaison to assigned special marketing initiatives Assist with community relations initiatives In-game sponsorship activation Assist with in-game promotions Direct in-game run of show for assigned sports Coordination of mascots Supervises: Student interns/workers Who We Are: Lamar University is a diverse and accessible global university for life-long learners with a passion for broad-based community engagement. What You’ll Need to Succeed – Minimum Qualifications To be successful in this role and a great addition to our team we need you to come with the following: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Marketing, Sports Administration, Communications, or a related field Enrollment and/or acceptance in a Lamar University graduate program for spring term 2023 At least one year of relevant athletic experience (volunteer/hourly will be considered) Key Competencies: Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, including both verbal and written
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, standing for extended period of time
Indoors and outdoors Ability to work nights and weekends
