The Media Relations Coordinator is responsible for promoting D'Youville University Athletics through strategic communications, media relations, digital content, and statistical reporting. The coordinator serves as the primary communications contact for assigned varsity sports while assisting with the overall promotion and visibility of the department's 22 NCAA Division II athletic programs. This position plays an integral role in telling the stories of D'Youville student-athletes, coaches, and teams through written, visual, and digital content while supporting game-day operations and championship events.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary athletic communications contact for assigned varsity sports.
  • Write and distribute press releases, recaps, feature stories, and student-athlete spotlights.
  • Maintain accurate and timely information on the athletics website, including schedules, rosters, biographies, statistics, and records.
  • Compile, verify, and report statistics in accordance with NCAA, East Coast Conference, and institutional standards.
  • Coordinate live statistics, livestream support, and game-day media operations for assigned home contests.
  • Create engaging content for departmental social media platforms, including graphics, photography, short-form video, and promotional campaigns.
  • Assist with photography and videography at athletic events, media days, and special functions.
  • Nominate student-athletes and coaches for conference, regional, and national awards.
  • Coordinate media requests and serve as a liaison between coaches, student-athletes, and local or regional media outlets.
  • Assist with the production of publications, digital programs, recruiting materials, and other promotional pieces.
  • Support branding initiatives and ensure consistency across all athletic communications platforms.
  • Assist with NCAA postseason events and conference championship hosting responsibilities.
  • Supervise and mentor student assistants, interns, and graduate assistants as assigned.
