The University of Arizona’s Athletics invites you to apply to the role of Athletics Professional IV, Athletics Operations.

The Athletics Professional IV, Athletics Operations, oversees the day-to-day operations of a comprehensive student-athlete development program focused on developing student-athletes and preparing them for success after completing their athletic careers.

This position will direct the planning, coordination, and delivery of services and education related to leadership, personal development, and career planning for 500+ student-athletes across 22 sports. This position will also work with campus and community partners to schedule and plan community service opportunities for student-athletes to give back to the Tucson community.

Ability to work nights, weekends, and travel as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and strategically direct a comprehensive Division I student-athlete development program serving 500+ student-athletes, exercising independent discretion in program design, objectives, and delivery models. Design, develop, and continuously evolve innovative curriculum frameworks on personal, career, and leadership development. Exercise independent budget oversight and resource allocation authority for student-athlete development programming.
• Provide institutional subject matter expertise and strategic education related to Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) within evolving regulatory frameworks. Serve as primary advisor to SAAC, influencing student leadership engagement and institutional feedback channels. Supervise assigned staff, graduate assistants, and student employees, including hiring, development, evaluation, and performance oversight consistent with expectations. Serve on various ICA working groups covering a variety of topics related to student success. Serve on University Committees as requested or appointed.
• Architect and oversee leadership and experiential learning pipelines, including structured internship partnerships. Direct comprehensive career readiness strategy, including professional skill development, resume coaching, and employer engagement preparation. Meet as needed with prospective student-athletes and their parents during recruitment events, official visits, and other venues to promote the opportunities and benefits of C.A.T.S. Student-Athlete Development. Represent Intercollegiate Athletics at conferences and national professional forums, contributing to industry dialogue and best practices.
• Exercise autonomous oversight of strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of all student-athlete development initiatives. Lead new student-athlete orientations with ICA Hall of Champions, when necessary, on Community Service initiatives, CATSY's and Letter Jacket Ceremony. Collaborate with A-Club and Letterwinners staff to integrate alumni into programming to benefit student-athletes. Guide, assist, and support other C.A.T.S. Program areas (Academics, Sports Medicine, Clinical/Sport Psychology, Strength, and Conditioning.
• Budget accountability.
• Additional duties as assigned.

• Ability to develop programs, coordinate resources, facilitate workshops and create a positive environment at the collegiate level.
• Ability to interact diplomatically with individuals from various backgrounds.
• Ability to establish working relationships and interact collaboratively and effectively with other staff, student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and the University of Arizona community.
• Excellent administrative, oral, and written communication skills including skill in writing memos and reports.
• Ability to demonstrate creative, organizational, and analytical skills; exceptional attention to detail.
• Knowledge of institutional, conference, and NCAA rules.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and according to FERPA regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, counseling, sport management, human resources, student affairs, or related field.
• Eight years of experience working in collegiate athletics, education, student development/services, or career related field in public or private sectors.
• Experience with NCAA student-athlete development programming at Division I level.
• Working knowledge of University of Arizona Intercollegiate Athletics, the University of Arizona, Big 12 Conference, and NCAA policies, rules, and regulations.
• Experience in employer relations, recruiting, career coaching, and employment practices in a corporate or academic setting.
• Experience with career software, assessments, and career/leadership curriculum.
