Role Summary: We are seeking a meticulous and passionate Sports Statistician to join our Athletic Communications team. As an NCAA Division III program and a member of the Midwest Conference (MWC), Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) we pride ourselves on providing high-quality, real-time data for our 19 varsity programs.

The Sports Statistician is responsible for accurately recording live game data, maintaining historical records, and ensuring that the statistical integrity of our home events meets NCAA and conference standards. This role is vital for coaches’ tactical analysis, media coverage, and the celebration of student-athlete achievements

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

Live Game Entry: Utilize NCAA LiveStats (Genius Sports), Stat Crew, or PrestoSports software to record play-by-play action for home contests, including but not limited to football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball, and softball.
Data Auditing: Review and “clean” statistics during and immediately following contests to ensure accuracy in player participation and play-by-play logs.
Reporting: Finalize game files and export XML/PDF reports to the NCAA, Midwest Conference, and opposing team SIDs within required deadlines.
Record Maintenance: Assist in updating season and career records for Beloit College Athletics programs.
Press Box Coordination: Work closely with the public address (PA) announcer and the livestream production crew to provide real-time updates and “stat nuggets” for the broadcast.
Rule Compliance: Maintain an expert-level understanding of NCAA scoring rules and statistical manual guidelines for assigned sports .

Credentials and Experience:

Expert Knowledge of Sports: A deep understanding of the rules and nuances of various collegiate sports (e.g., knowing the difference between a “team rebound” and an “individual rebound”).
Technical Proficiency: A bility to learn and operate specialized statistical software. Experience with Genius Sports/NCAA LiveStats is a significant plus.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus and the ability to remain calm and accurate in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment .
Availability: Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays in alignment with the Buccaneers’ home schedule .
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with coaches, officials, and media personnel.

Preferred Experience

Previous experience in a sports information office or as a high school/collegiate team manager.
Interest in sports analytics, data science, or sports management.

Attention to Detail: Precision in tracking scores, stats, and penalty clocks to maintain the credibility of the game and broadcast.
Composure: Ability to stay focused and “cool under fire” in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Reliability: Availability to work a schedule dictated by the team’s home games, including evenings and weekends.
