SECTION II – THE SEAT
At CMU, we look at every position as a seat. As a human centric organization, a priority is to ensure we have the “right seats” in our organization, and that the expectations, ownership and accountabilities are defined and communicated clearly for the success of the individuals holding the seats.
The Athletics Transportation Manager is responsible for the ground transportation division of the Colorado Mesa University Athletic Department bus and van fleet, including the supervision of all drivers, scheduling of transportation and drivers, and routine pre- and post-trip safety inspections. All athletics bus drivers are responsible for safely operating athletics’ buses and other vehicles as assigned. The transportation manager will schedule all buses and drivers, maintain the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of all vehicles, schedule routine maintenance and maintain corresponding records, maintain driver logs, coordinates travel itineraries with users and drivers, and supervise the staff of drivers.
OVERVIEW AND ROLE SCOPE OF TEAM AND/OR TASKS
_ ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES _ include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
· Supervise a staff of one Full-time and 5-6 additional Part-Time Drivers
· Recommend to the Assistant Athletic Director and Athletic Director additional drivers for hire
· Conduct annual evaluations of all drivers
· Schedule all drivers’ trips and assign vehicles
· Coordinate with user groups to confirm the details of travel itineraries; share with scheduled driver.
· Responsible for required drivers’ paperwork including CDL Status, Valid Driver’s License and Traffic Infractions
· Responsible for maintaining drivers log books, maintenance requests, and other required documentation
· Responsible for tracking and logging the mileage and cost of operating each vehicle in the fleet
· Fiduciary responsibility with direct oversight of the bus budget and credit card records including identifying and recommending any cost savings measures.
· Perform regular safety and maintenance checks on fleet vehicles and report any maintenance or safety issues to supervisor or his/her designee
· Maintain the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of all vehicles
· Ensure that the fleet is safely and securely parked and/or stored
· Install tire chains when weather conditions and/or chain laws require them
· Order equipment and supplies as necessary for vehicles, including chains
· In cooperation with coaching staff, ensure that passengers are aware of conduct expectations
· Always representing CMU in a professional manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.
· Valid Driver’s License
· Pass a MVR & Driving Record Background Check
· Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn industry specific software
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree from Accredited university.
· Class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger bus endorsement (CDL-P)
· Supervisory Experience
· Vehicle Fleet Maintenance and/or scheduling experience
