Experience working with irrigation systems.
Commercial pesticide applicator license.
Experience operating a snow blade.
Degree in related field (horticulture, turf management, agronomy, etc).
The ISU Athletics Department is accepting applications for a Turf and Field Management Assistant. This position will support in the maintenance and preparation for optimum playing surfaces, surrounding turf areas, and the common grounds for the Athletics Department facilities.
The successful candidate will have sound knowledge of turf management principles including experience with a variety of sports and playing surfaces; an understanding of governing requirements for field layouts and markings; the ability to problem solve and communicate effectively with others. Requires the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions; regular walking, pushing, bending and pulling; ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs; and the ability work non-traditional hours based on weather conditions and to work at assigned events. Finalists will be expected to obtain and maintain an Iowa Commercial Pesticide Applicator License.

• Works under direct to general supervision and may receive guidance on more complex assignments
• Follows established procedures for work assignments, and completes assignments which are semi-routine and may be atypical in nature
• Applies thorough knowledge to respond to inquiries and requests
• Able to resolve most problems and issues and respond to requests without escalation
• Provides guidance to students
• May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team
