The MontanaPBS Audio Mix Engineer is part of the Production Services team and performs audio mix and engineering work on a range of high quality live and post-produced productions such as ESPN+ Sports, studio broadcast series, performances and field productions.

Position Details
| General Statement |
The Audio Mix Engineer is part of the Montana PBS Production Services team which produces live and post-produced content. This department directs and produces high quality, impactful live coverage for various events, including sports, lectures, presentations, and performances for in-venue, streaming, and broadcast audiences as well as video content for clients across the state. The Audio Mix Engineer will work collaboratively within MontanaPBS Production Services on all types of productions assigned by the Director of Production.

| Duties and Responsibilities |
- Work with production crews to live mix events.
- Post Sound Mix + Design for occasional video deliveries.
- Assist with other production and post-production tasks, including editing, graphics and animations, captioning, encoding/transcoding, and file transfers.
- Assist the Production Services staff in other operational tasks of the Unit.

| Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills |
1. A high school diploma (or possess a GED equivalent), plus at least three cumulative years of significantly related work experience.
2. Progressively responsible professional experience in creative and technical audio mixing and engineering, relating to film, television and live events.
3. Demonstrate effective communications skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, live production environment.
4. Proficiency in equipment including:
- Dante and Penta Routers.
- Familiarity with DigiCart playback system.
- Digital Mixers.
- Knowledge and utilization of DCAs and Aux output, Ability to mix multiple audio sources at proper levels, manipulate gain, frequency EQ, gates and delays.

1. Public Television Experience
2. Professional experience as a mix engineer in a for-hire, client-based setting.
3. Bachelors degree in audio engineering, music technology, film & television or closely related field.

| The Successful Candidate Will |
- Must be able to work independently and in a collaborative manner with production staff.
- Ability to readily adapt to unexpected and sudden changes.
- Have excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- The Audio Mix Engineer will be expected to set up, test, operate and break down a wide range of professional audio hardware and software on a regular basis.
- The successful candidate will possess a solid knowledge of broadcast technical specifications including audio standards and practices.

| Position Special Requirements/Additional Information |
Production schedules will vary and will require work on evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Remote productions may require in-state travel.

“This is a part-time position that changes drastically in hours based on the MSU athletics seasons and campus activity. It averages out to 270 hours in a calendar year.”
