The prime functions of this position is to provide clinical mental health services and develop programming that reflects personal/identity development for student-athletes. This position will provide leadership and direction for the sports psychology division, with a combination of clinical and administrative tasks. This position is responsible for psychological evaluation and treatment, individual mental health counseling, case management, crisis intervention, preventative programming, and assisting with team/individual performance consultation. Provide brief consultation for both administrative and coaching staff/sport team as needed, related to performance, clinical psychology and wellness. The position reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director, Sport Psychology and Wellness and/or the Head Team Physician.
This position requires the ability work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel as needed.

Provide individual clinical assessment, psychological treatment, and case management for student-athletes.
Develop and establish treatment plans and goals. This will also include assisting with case management and coordination of mental health care for clinical referrals to outside resources for mental health and AOD services for student-athletes.
Assess and respond to crisis intervention with individuals and groups within the athletic department.
Medical documentation and record keeping, deliver individual performance consultation, and assist with team sport psychology sessions.
Must also maintain credentialing and participate in continued education.
Development and implementation of sport psychology and personal development group interventions.
This includes the development, management and delivery of programming specific to student-athlete's personal development (specifically diversity, inclusion, and equity work), mental health and wellness, leadership, interpersonal effectiveness skills, performance psychology etc.
Medical staff consultation and treatment team participation. This includes, but is not limited to, mental health treatment teams and interdisciplinary communication with athletics medical staff. This responsibility will also be reflected through presentations, workshops, and event planning focused on the destigmatization and psychoeducation of mental health throughout the athletics department.
Provide administrative and coach consultation regarding mental health and mental performance best practices. This responsibility will include educational and preventative presentations or workshops to all staff and coaches.
Development and delivery of sports psychology programmatic initiatives including team specific programs, working with campus psychological services, supervision of clinicians and learners where applicable.
Additional duties as assigned.

Demonstrated ability to provide treatment and/or consultation that spans the spectrum of care for student-athletes.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively, respectfully and appropriately with diverse populations in the Department, University and the community.
Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication.
Capable of handling multiple tasks in a high stress environment.
Able to accurately interpret and adhere to NCAA and Big12 Conference rules, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, University of Arizona and the Department of Athletics polices.
Ability to work with Excel and Word.
Dedication and motivation to initiate, lead and support value-added projects.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Self-motivated, results-oriented, and has a positive demeanor.
Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to plan, establish priorities and successfully manage multiple priority projects.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and develop positive interpersonal relationships.
Knowledge of, and ability to conduct, AOD assessments, and ability to work with the student-athlete population on
these issues.
Master's degree in related field required. In addition to the education and experience minimum qualifications, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is requiredin compliance with the AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.
Five years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and workexperience.
Experience in sport, higher education, or other related setting.
Experience with training in sport psychology and/or counseling.
Experience with understanding the unique aspects of student-athlete population.
Experience with treating trauma and trauma-related issues.
