Job Summary/Basic Functions
This is a position tutoring student-athletes in various courses offered at EKU. Students employed in this position are responsible for ensuring the ongoing success of the program by serving as a learning resource for our student athletes and representing the Bratzke Center in a professional manner. Our student employees assist in achieving the goals of the Bratzke Center Tutoring Program by: 1) fostering skill development, 2) encouraging critical thinking, 3) promoting independent learners, and 4) enhancing engagement and collaboration with the academic community here at EKU. These positions work one-on-one with student-athletes.
We are currently accepting applications for this position for the Spring 2024 semester. We are looking for individuals in all subject areas. However, some main areas we will need include: All General Education courses, Psychology, Sociology, Business courses (ACC, Comp science, FIN, ECO etc. ), Criminal Justice, Sciences (Anatomy/physiology, CHE 111, 112, 361, Physics 131, BIO 111, 112 and higher), Math (esp. MAT 120, MAT 112, MAT 105 etc) English 101 and 102, general writing, Exercise science etc,
In addition, as a Life Skills tutor you will assist with general academic success skills to include: time management, review of course progress, study/test taking skills, organization and navigation of Blackboard and other software/policies/procedures that EKU uses.

Pay is $11/hour.
Preference is given to individuals with tutoring experience and/or night availability.
Should you be considered for the position, you will be contacted by the Tutor Coordinator for an interview.
(Please Note: You will not be able to tutor during your class times i.e. if there is an online class scheduled for your class time you cannot tutor even though it is a web class)
Bratzke Center hours are:
Sunday: 3:00 – 8:00pm
Monday – Friday: 8:00am – 10:00pm
Saturday: Closed
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate students
-Must a 3.0 or higher GPA and
-Must have completed at least 30 credit hours
- Earned at least an A or B in subject area
- must be enrolled full time (min 12 credits)
Graduate Students
-Must be enrolled in a graduate level program.
If you are a Graduate Student with a Graduate Assistantship position on campus, you MUST have completed 18 credit hours within your program and have a 3.5 GPA to be considered for additional employment. If you are currently a GA you can work an additional 7.5 hours a week with approval from Grad School.

MAT 120, MAT 112, MAT 105 etc) English 101 and 102, general writing (APA, MLA etc knowledge), ESS, Psychology, Criminal Justice etc.
Life skills/mentor positions will assist with time management, overall course progress and general academic success areas.
Experience working with diverse student population.
Ability to work as in person tutor. There may be some occasions where Zoom tutoring may need to be used.
