Provide support help to senior engineers with the operation, maintenance, and integration of new and existing broadcast technology. Assist with engineering broadcasts including various campus events such as Convocation, Football, and other NCAA and Club Sports.
Serve as engineer in the field or control room for assigned shows.
Assist with the setup for broadcasts to agreed specifications.
Assist with studio hits and interviews.
Keep the control rooms clean and appropriately report any functional issues.
Assist with the installation of new gear.
Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
Must be a team player with strong relational and organizational skills.
Will be required to work flexible hours, including frequent nights and weekends.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Students, student workers, volunteers, and freelancers.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
1. 1-2 years in broadcast or a related field.
2. Self-motivated with a passion to learn broadcast operations and engineering skills.
3. Some knowledge of video and audio-related technology for production, nonlinear video editing, or transmission systems.
4. Eagerness to troubleshoot video, audio, and IT systems.
5. Computer skills.
Four-year college degree, or working towards a degree, with 1-2 years of relevant experience.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond articulately and professionally.
Possess public communication skills that allow the professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government, and community customers.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent people skills and great communication skills.
Frequently required to travel to local and campus locations, as well as occasional out-of-town assignments.
Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform desk work or type on a keyboard.
Fine motor skills and dexterity are essential to be able to operate, configure, and maintain equipment.
Regularly required to hear and discern sounds and speak to effectively communicate orally.
Regularly required to see and discern colors to properly install, visually inspect, and maintain equipment.
Often required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the buildings.
Handle materials, climb ladders, reach overhead, kneel or stoop to conduct business.
Regularly lift 75 or fewer pounds.
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is frequently changing. Functions of this position’s responsibility often require one to work after normal business hours, and in some situations for prolonged shifts. Some projects are completed in a climate-controlled office setting and other projects regularly are outdoors, in some situations rain must be accommodated. Work from home may be encouraged or required at times.
Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
