What we want
The Broadcast Engineer, under direction, performs installation, modification, operation, and repair of electronic communications equipment to in-stadium video as well as live event operations. Provides technical oversight of event coverage. Works with full time staff and college student labor force to facilitate live television for both broadcast and in-stadium presentations.

Position Details: Employee will supervise 3-5 Student Workers. Position will require sports event coverage and television production as assigned requiring frequent nights, weekends, and holidays to fulfill assigned duties. Travel required to cover sport events.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three years full-time experience in the technical operation and maintenance and repair of broadcast equipment, to include live event experience in technical broadcast control room and/or multiple camera operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of IP-based transport of audio/video signals for broadcast television support and communications.
Knowledge of overall technical support to live events broadcast staff regarding operational aspects of routing systems for communications, broadcast camera setups, data-linking television graphics support, and general control room technical operational support.
Oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work in integrated Television Control Room environment managing control room setup and operational status for live television events.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others in fast-paced situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Broadcast Television environment as Intern, Student worker or staff in regard to technical operational support of live television events for broadcast or in-stadium productions.
Experience working in a broadcast crew scenario collaborating with Television Director and Producer. 5 years of experience supporting live multicamera events.
Knowledge of SMTPE 2110 standards, Dante and Ravenna protocols, basic network troubleshooting, basic understanding of virtualization technologies.
SMPTE or SBE certifications, vendor certifications, Cisco certifications.

Responsibilities:
Broadcast Operations- Assists in the live event support operations as Engineer-In-Charge (EIC), which includes support abilities for installation, modification, operation, and repair of electronic communications equipment. Supports broadcast facility operations concerning postproduction, television control room, studio, and live event venue operations as directed by Chief Broadcast Engineer. Trains and supervises student workers and provides input in their evaluation. Provides operational support of in-stadium/venue digital signage and associated electronic components and provides support for live event technical setup and management per operations systems. Works sports event coverage and television production requiring occasional nights, weekends, and holidays. Provides technical oversight of event coverage for production of ESPN broadcasts, live venue big screens, digital signage, and general television production coverage of athletic events. Directs student employees in set up of broadcast TV camera packages for live events. Gives basic troubleshooting and operational instruction and supervision to student employees for event support regarding video operations. Ensures safe practices and best methods when dealing with student employees following University policy for safety.
Troubleshoot- Troubleshoots at the component and system level and provides operational assistance in broadcast, IT, and communications systems. Installs, modifies, operates, troubleshoots, and repairs electronic communications equipment in regard to facility operations per postproduction, television control room, studio, and live event venue operations. Performs preventative maintenance and duties associated with equipment inventory and care.
Support- Supports digital signage and associated electronic components. Provides support for live event technical setup and management of operational systems.
Liaison- Serves as technical liaison between internal television operations and external television network broadcasts.
Maintenance- Performs preventative maintenance and inventory of broadcast equipment.
Compliance- Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Southeastern Conference and Texas A&M University rules and regulations. This position works to establish and ensure communication and enforcement of rules and regulations for all staff members and student workers supervised. Compliance is a shared responsibility. Performs other duties as assigned.
