Duties and Responsibilities:
*Under the general direction of the Head Football Coach, Director of Football Operations assists the General Manager with providing administrative support for the Football Program; assists with the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision recruiting and personnel program; serves as the assistant to the General Manager, and assists the Head Football Coach with day to day tasks.
*Position provides day-to-day administrative work of broad scope and significant complexity under the general direction of the Head Football Coach and the General Manager.
*Provides administrative direction over the communications, public relations, and external relations for the football program.
*
Works as the liaison between the Head Coach, General Manager, Athletics Director and Associate Athletics Director to establish a recommended budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
* Facilities Liaison. Work collaboratively with the Athletic Facilities Office with coordinating the use of practice fields, lecture halls, classrooms, meeting rooms for the football program.
* Plans and coordinates all travel related logistics including but not limited flights, seat assignments, cargo, ground transportation, hotels, meals, room assignments, meeting rooms, video setup, practice sites, travel itinerary, and insurance. Travels with the team.
*Prepares and reviews all fiscal and travel related documents are in compliance with applicable laws, UH, UH Foundation and NCAA policies and procedures, rules and regulations.
* Assists the coaches in the recruiting and admission process to ensure required information and documents are provided to the Athletics Department’s Compliance and Student Affairs Offices for each prospect including campus tours, game day visits, and National Letter of Intent process. Keeps the coaches updated as to scholarship counts from Athletics’ Student Affairs.
*Ensures effective communications within the football program regarding programs and activities to ensure the academic success of the student-athlete. *
Keeps abreast of changes/updates with applicable Conference and NCAA rules and regulations related to football. Works in conjunction with the Athletics Compliance Office in conducting training and rules education to coaches, student-athletes, and boosters. *
Actively participates in promotional and public relation activities for the football program.
* Develops and maintains effective contacts internally and externally with community leaders, booster club members, fans, alumni, and business executives in order to promote the attitudes, views, policies and style of operation of the Head Football Coach and advise the Head Coach of opinions and conditions affecting the operation and development of the program.
* Oversee nutrition of the team: work closely with Sodexo and red card to ensure nutrition is up to the standard of the head coach
* Works closely with the Athletic Compliance Office to ensure the Football Program is in compliance with all Conference and NCAA rules. Successfully passes NCAA rules test on an annual basis.
*Promotes and fosters a positive team environment, appropriate behavior, and sportsmanship by team members, staff and coaches.
*Promotes and maintains an environment where the physical, mental, social and academic well-being of all student-athletes are a priority.
*Performs the duties of a Campus Security Authority as defined by University policy and federal law with regards to the Clery Act.
* Maintain collaborative working relationships with administrators and coaches in the department, other college offices, and appropriate relationships with members of the media, donors, and other individuals interested in the Athletics Department.
* Maintains confidentiality to include but not limited to information, files and records that the incumbent may obtain or possess, in accordance with federal and state laws and University of Hawaii policies.
*Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University of Hawaii and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if there is reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur.
Performs other duties assigned by the Head Football Coach.
Note: Duties may adjust as changes occur to the NCAA Bylaw 13.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
Knowledge of football as competed at the collegiate level.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, student-athletes, and work with all segments of the University of Hawai‘i community and the general public.
Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of intercollegiate athletics operations.
Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
Ability to work outside normally scheduled work hours including day, night, weekend and /or holiday hours as directed.
Ability to travel with the team as required.
Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and sound analyses to a variety of administrative support, program management or related issues.
Ability to handle confidential information with a high level of tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work effectively and independently under pressure, with frequent interruptions, and remain flexible in handling several concurrent projects with competing deadlines.
Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Genuine interest and passion for intercollegiate athletics.
Demonstrated ability to pay attention to details.
Ability to travel independently to various geographical locations in a timely manner. Required to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
First Aid, CPR and AED certification by the employment start date.
Computer, cell phone, and social media technology competency.
