Provide athletic training services to student-athletes, including but not limited to injury prevention, clinical evaluation, treatment of medical conditions, emergency care, rehabilitation implementation, and documentation. Deliver care within established protocols while contributing to student-athlete health, safety, and performance in a collegiate athletic setting.
Based on the recent Proclamation: Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers (H-1B), VSU will not be sponsoring any new H-1B visa petitions until further notice.
Typical Allocation of Duties:
Athletic Injury Prevention, Assessment, and Rehabilitation - 50%
Provide athletic training services to student-athletes, including implementation of injury prevention programs, performance of taping/bracing, and administration of therapeutic modalities in accordance with established care plans. Conduct basic injury evaluations and recognize conditions requiring referral or escalation.
Event and Practice Coverage - 25%
Provide coverage for assigned team practices and selected events. Deliver first aid and emergency response as needed and follow established emergency action plans. Identify and escalate complex injuries or medical situations appropriately. Travel with teams as assigned.
Education, Compliance, and Collaboration - 15%
with coaches and athletic training staff to support care plans and safe participation. Adhere to NCAA, institutional, and department policies, procedures, and standards of care.
Referral and Follow-up Care - 10%
Maintain accurate medical records and assist with scheduling, supply inventory, and upkeep of athletic training facilities. Support coordination of referrals and follow-up care as directed. Ensure treatment areas and equipment are clean, organized, and operational.
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field. Athletic Training Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers. Current State of Georgia Athletic Trainer License in good standing or eligible for such.
Commensurate with experience.
