Duties and Responsibilities (*denotes essential functions):
Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in athletics training, physical education, kinesiology or related field and one (1) year of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for athletic training in intercollegiate sports medicine; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the field of athletic training in intercollegiate sports medicine as demonstrated by the knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with athletic training in intercollegiate sports medicine.
Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the field of athletic training.
Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
Valid Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer.
Valid CPR/AED Certification.
Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays during athletic related scheduled events.
Ability to administer physical therapeutic treatment after evaluating the athlete's limitation and explain and instruct the student-athlete in adhering to the treatment plan.
Ability to apply the knowledge and skills to treat, stabilize and transport student-athlete with an injury.
Ability to apply CPR, fracture immobilization, control hemorrhage, evaluate injuries, etc.
Knowledge of the general principles of personal hygiene, nutrition, and first aid treatment of injuries and illnesses.
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques associated with intercollegiate sports medicine.
Must possess Certified Athletic Trainer License with the State of Hawai‘i (or upon hire).
Ability to travel independently to various geographical locations in a timely manner. Requirement may be fulfilled by a valid Hawaii Driver's license (class 3), comparable driver's license, or other means of transportation, which meets position needs.
Working knowledge of applicable NCAA, OSHA, and HIPAA standards.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to provide excellent customer service. Desirable Qualifications:
Division I athletic training experience.
