The University seeks a Cheerleading Advisor for its Athletics Department on the main campus. The
position reports to the Director of Athletics, and is available immediately, upon appointment of a
successful candidate.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
• Planning, supervising, and directing all aspects of the University Cheerleading Program
o Developing and implementing practice and performance schedules
o Coordinating team participation at athletic events, campus activities, and competitions
o Recruiting mission-fit student-athletes for the cheerleading team
o Supervising assistant coaches, volunteers, and team captains
o Maintaining safety and compliance with NAIA and University policies

o Organizing tryouts and selection processes for cheer team membership
o
Ensuring proper training, conditioning, and injury prevention protocols
Overseeing the team budget and fundraising initiatives
Collaborating with the Athletics and Student Life departments to enhance school spirit
Conducting team meetings, devotional gatherings, and spiritual mentoring
• Attending all athletic department meetings
o Additional assignments as deemed appropriate by the Athletic Director. These could
include classroom instruction depending on capacity of the candidate and needs of the
university as well as assistance with game management.
o Supporting other athletic events and University functions requiring spirit team
involvement.
o Other duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
Expectations for the successful candidate:
• Evangelical Christian statement of faith, experience, and mission fit
• Personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
• Understanding and alignment of the heritage, doctrine, and practices of the Church of the
Nazarene.
• Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred
• Knowledge of coaching philosophies and implementation within a team
• Experience with Microsoft Office and with office equipment (printers, copiers, etc.) preferred
• Excellent technology, face-to-face, and phone skills
• Ability to compose clear, professional letters, emails, and announcements
• Ability to communicate and work effectively and creatively with students, parents,
administrators, faculty, and staff
• Must be capable of sitting, walking or standing for long periods of time; frequent use of stairs;
ability to lift 50 pounds
