Job Summary
The Department of Health Sciences is seeking qualified candidates for an open rank appointment to serve as faculty and Clinical Education Coordinator (CEC) in our CAATE-accredited Athletic Training Program (ATP). This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track eligible position beginning January 2023 or August 2023.Successful candidates are expected to have a willingness and desire to engage in program, department, college, university, and professional development and promotion. The successful candidate will maintain BOC professional expectations and the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) Standards.Teaching assignments are based on course availability and expertise. Teaching assignments will include courses in both Athletic Training and Health Sciences or other related health disciplines.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach graduate and undergraduate courses within the CAATE-accredited Athletic Training program and Health Science Curriculum. Faculty duties include preparing and presenting course materials according to department and program needs, administering appropriate evaluation of student performance, and preparing, administering and grading assignments/assessments. Faculty are evaluated on, and expected to fulfill, three categories of responsibility: teaching, scholarship, and service to the university. Teaching expectation is 12 credit hours per semester (three hour release time offered for CEC duties).

Serve as the Clinical Education Coordinator for the graduate Athletic Training program. CEC duties include development of clinical education sites, oversight of student clinical progression, preceptor selection, regular communication with preceptors, professional development of preceptors, and assessment of clinical sites.

Doctorate
Required Licenses/Certification: Terminal degree (DPT, PHD, EdD) in physical therapy, athletic training, education, or other related fields (Master’s degree considered) Current Board of Certification (BOC) certified athletic trainer in good standing Eligible to obtain West Virginia Athletic Training Licensure The ideal candidate will be dually academically credentialed to instruct, advise, and mentor in both undergraduate Health Sciences and Graduate, Masters in Athletic Training or have other related medical/health endorsement.
Strong collegial and collaborative skills Contemporary expertise in the areas of therapeutic modalities, therapeutic exercise, general medical concerns, and evidence-based practice Working knowledge of CAATE accreditation practices and policies, preferred Evidence of scholarly work, preferred

The Department of Health Science has eight full-time faculty who serve approximately 200 undergraduate and graduate students pursuing undergraduate degree options in Health Sciences (Pre-AT, Pre-PT, Pre-Professional Studies, & Exercise Science) Wellness Education and graduate programs in Athletic Training and Health Promotion. Concord University is a small public, comprehensive institution with an enrollment of around 1800 students.
