Job Summary:

The Badger Athletic Performance Program (https://bap.ortho.wisc.edu) is hiring a Clinical Research Coordinator to support our ongoing data collection and research goals. This position will assist with routine performance testing of student-athletes, data reporting and dissemination, and other projects resulting from internal and external sports medicine collaborations. The coordinator will work closely with the Badger Athletic Performance Program and UW Division of Athletics staff, students, and trainees to ensure successful data collections and productive lines of research.

An ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication and organization skills, prior experience performing human subjects research, and a strong background working with data in Excel. Prior experience working with REDCap, Healthlink, R, or Matlab is helpful but not required.

This position is based on-campus at UW-Madison and typically adheres to a Monday-Friday work schedule, though schedule flexibility in terms of start/end times is necessary for some data collections.

Our general approach is to empower individuals to work independently following thorough and hands-on training and on-boarding, while also having regular meetings with collaborators and support staff within the department to foster a strong team environment.

Responsibilities:

Coordinates clinical research studies, performing related tasks and activities. Collects information, recruits, screens, selects, determines eligibility, and enrolls study participants and ensures subjects follow the research protocol. - 20% Schedules logistics, determines workflows, and secures resources for a defined clinical research trial(s) - 10% Recruits, screens, selects, determines eligibility and enrolls trial participants, collects information, and answers questions under supervision of a medically licensed professional. May perform basic medical assessments after completion of required training/certification, such as collecting vital signs, obtaining weight, and performing phlebotomy - 35% Manages research workflow components, collects, prepares, processes, and submits participant data and samples to appropriate entities, adhering to research protocols - 10% Identifies work unit resources needs and manages supply and equipment inventory levels - 25% Serves as an initial point of contact for clinical research participants and clinical staff, providing information regarding research procedures, expectations, and informational inquiries. Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
Biology, exercise science, kinesiology, biomedical engineering, or other related fields preferred

Qualifications:

Highly preferred competencies:
- Performing human subjects research or working with patients in a clinical setting.
- Managing data in Excel.

Preferred competencies:
- Prior experience with data entry into REDCap databases.
- Prior experience working with athletic populations or in a sports setting.

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 50% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $42,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Additional Information:

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment. University sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every two years.

Effective January 1, 2020, the U.S. Department of Labor Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be updated to require that positions earning less than $35,568 annually be considered non-exempt under FLSA provisions for overtime (see https://www.dol.gov/whd/overtime2019/). Based on these rules, if the person selected for this recruitment will earn less than the new salary threshold at January 1, 2020 ($35,568 annually), he/she will be an academic staff non-exempt employee, will be paid hourly, and will receive overtime compensation for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
