This position will assist the Club Sport Assistant Director of Special Events & Website Management. They will be responsible for assisting with the set-up, clean-up, prep-work, and coordination of all internal/external special events, fundraisers, and/or summer programming. Tasks include updating events tracking documents and calendars, confirm venues and resources needed, submit and monitor catering orders, organize and manage storage closet inventory.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with set-up, clean-up, prep-work, and coordination of internal/external events
Assist with set-up, clean-up, prep-work, and coordination of summer programming events
Responsible for updating tracking documents and calendars
Responsible for confirming venues and resources needed
Responsible for submitting and monitoring catering orders
Responsible for organizing and managing storage closet inventory
Responsible for offering creative solutions/ideas for the betterment/creation of events
Assist with departmental paperwork
Assist with departmental email communication
Assist with departmental errands
Assist with other assigned tasks as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
High School Graduate. The ability to use Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). Prompt and reliable; will follow scheduled hours yet have flexibility when needed. Should be self-motivated and can effectively prioritize and complete tasks. Ideally have an outgoing, friendly, and professional demeanor. This is a position that requires professional, courteous, and polite interactions with Liberty University Staff and external clients. Furthermore, this position may require some evening & weekend availability.
Experience in Event Planning or Management, Customer Service, and/or Hospitality.
ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent computer skills.
Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
Regularly required to listen and speak to effectively communicate orally.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop to conduct business.
Regularly lift 15 or fewer pounds.
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lit with a moderate noise level.
Use of a personal vehicle or transportation required to get to and from work.
