This is a temporary or on-call position. Assists in the planning, instruction (coaching), promotion and administration of a sport, game, or athletic program; assists with conditioning of players, skill development, and play techniques. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
The Coaching Aide is responsible for tournament attendance at intercollegiate policy debate tournaments with the MSU Debate Team and regular completion of research assignments. Research assignments will be conducted at the direction of the MSU Debate Head Coach and MSU Debate Assistant Coach(es). An assignment would require producing original research on the required topic, presenting it to the MSU Debate Team, and practicing the content with students. When traveling to tournaments, this position is responsible for judging rounds to fulfill the MSU Debate Team judging requirement, and assisting students in areas of research expertise.
Minimum requirements include Bachelor’s degree and one to three years of related work experience, including competing in elimination rounds of college policy debate tournaments, coaching competitive policy debate, working at high school policy debate camps, or conducting in-depth debate research and use of database software.
