In addition to working with coaches, the role requires an understanding of

Athletics’ strategies around fan engagement, building attendance, generating revenue, and communicating about the student-athlete experience. Accordingly, the role requires this person to draw on the external operations resources (digital media,
UNH
Wildcat Productions, media relations, marketing, etc.) to implement organizational objectives. Critical skills include proficiency and timeliness with social media marketing including, but not limited to, knowledge of leading media platforms and how-to skills for community building. Short-form writing skills, media relations, sport-specific statistical documentation, and in-game statistical oversight are also important competencies.
This position communicates regularly with campus personnel, donors, alumni, and the Athletics Development office to strengthen the program’s relationship with each stakeholder group.
Durham
Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, and experience working in a sports information/athletic communications office (or equivalent) is required. Must have strong writing skills and familiarity with AP style, strong oral communication skills and the ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects independently. Should be familiar with
NCAA
Genius and Stat Crew software for various sports. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop),
HTML
, IMovie and QuickTime Pro, and knowledge of advanced video editing and Flash are a plus. Ability to work evenings and weekends is required.

- Relay key messaging to external stakeholders
- Identify and pitch content directly or through External Operations for social media, print, and broadcast media
- Communicate the student-athlete experience, which requires knowledge of athletes’ biographies and personal stories
- Collaborate with marketing team on special projects to inspire attendance at athletics events
- Contribute ideas to social media team for special features
- Engage fans through social media channels as inside source for designated teams
- Work closely with coaches, student-athletes, and athletic department personnel to stay current on stories and subjects they wish to promote and publicize
- Coordinate interview requests from media for broadcasts, television reports, newspapers, and other outlets.
- Compile game notes, pertinent information, and historical data for use by working media
- Promote ticket sales
- Work with Athletics Development on stories related to designated teams’ special events, alumni/athlete networking, and capital projects to come
