Position Overview 

This position reports to the Director of Athletics Communications and assists other Sports Information Directors, student workers, athletics administrators, coaches, and student-athletes to produce successful execution of home games and special events. 

Responsibilities

• Administrative tasks related to the internal, external, development, and communications areas of the department
• Gameday Operations – assist in providing the best gameday experience for every type of fan in the building
• This role functions similar to an internal beat reporter—the focus is on telling compelling stories in written, video, social media, graphics or other innovative formats

Job Description

Position Overview 

This position reports to the Director of Athletics Communications and assists other Sports Information Directors, student workers, athletics administrators, coaches, and student-athletes to produce successful execution of home games and special events. 

Responsibilities

• Administrative tasks related to the internal, external, development, and communications areas of the department
• Gameday Operations – assist in providing the best gameday experience for every type of fan in the building
• This role functions similar to an internal beat reporter—the focus is on telling compelling stories in written, video, social media, graphics or other innovative formats
• Generating and overseeing the distribution of record books/media guides, news articles and short-form video, stats and social media interactions
• Responsible for developing external media relationships and managing media requests for assigned sports as well as managing gameday media relations duties, including game statistics
   

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Organizational skills; ability to multi-task/manage several projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
• Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, strategic-thinking skills; willingness to learn and take initiative
• Positive attitude with strong interpersonal/customer service skills
• Proven ability to work autonomously, collaboratively, and within a team structure.
• Proficiency in office software systems such as: MS Word, Office, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
• The ability to maintain confidentiality

• Attention to detail
• Desired candidate will have outstanding verbal communication skills and be able to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and other athletics staff.
