Reporting to the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance, the Compliance Officer for Athletics will assist with
NCAA
, University, and A-10 athletics compliance. This position will also work with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (

Reporting to the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance, the Compliance Officer for Athletics will assist with
NCAA
, University, and A-10 athletics compliance. This position will also work with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (
SAAC
) Advisor. The incumbent will also be responsible for the following duties:
General Compliance
Collaborates with the Associate AD Compliance in the development and implementation of a comprehensive rules education program for the GW community (student-athletes, coaches, staff, and University Administrators) with regards to University, Atlantic 10 Conference, and
NCAA
rules.
Oversees Camps and Clinics including the review and approval of all pre and post-camp paperwork associated with GW coaches’ LLCs. Monitors and approves department coaches and staff employment at noninstitutional camps and clinics.
Monitors and approves department coaches and staff employment with local sports clubs.
Administers the Student Assistance Fund and Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund (
SAOF
) along with assisting in the monitoring of the
SAOF
budget.
Assists the Associate AD for Compliance with writing and filing any necessary violations, waivers, and interpretation requests.
Assists in maintaining social media presence.
Cross-campus liaison between GW Dining, GW Bookstore, GWorld Office, and the athletic department.
Available as a resource for coaches, student-athletes, and department and campus administrators.
Reviews

disclosures and tracks

deals across multiple platforms to ensure disclosures are submitted according to
NCAA
and GW Policies and DC Law.
Assists in tracking incoming student-athletes during the admissions process.
Recruiting and Playing and Practice Seasons
Coordinates and monitors all
PSA
and individuals associated with PSAs complimentary admissions.
Monitors and approves all recruiting visits (official and unofficial).
Assists with reviewing and monitoring phone calls, evaluations, and contacts with the ARMs online system.
Works cooperatively with coaches, staff, and student-athletes to monitor and manage all aspects of playing and practice seasons including
CARA
logs.
Regular (Annual/Monthly) Projects
Provides
NCAA
and A10 compliance guidance and education to
SAAC
which will consist of programming at least twice a year.
Responsible for creating the annual Student-Athlete Handbook and monthly compliance newsletters.
Creates and assists in presenting annual recruiting education for coaches to meet
NCAA
criteria to recruit off-campus.
Crafts annual beginning-of-year and end-of-year rules education videos for student-athletes and coaches.
Creates and assists in presenting monthly rules education sessions for coaches and the department.
Attends and participates in annual Conference and
NCAA
Regional Rules seminars.
Scholarships
Oversees and administers initial athletics aid agreements.
Assists the Associate AD with monitoring the athletics aid budget and continuing athletic award agreements and cancellations.
Oversees and administers the textbook process for all student-athletes and graduate assistants.
Assists in the monitoring and maintenance of squad lists for each sports team.
Assist with monitoring outside scholarship recipients
Eligibility
Maintains IRLs on the
NCAA
Eligibility Center web page and monitors prospective student-athletes submission of required documentation to the
NCAA
Eligibility Center.
Assists the Associate AD and certifying officers with the verification of student-athlete initial and continuing eligibility.
Assists the Associate AD with transfer requests from GW student-athletes and student-athletes transferring into GW.
Assists with the completion of transfer tracers for GW student-athletes.
The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom campus in Washington, DC.
The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in
NCAA
compliance,
NCAA
Eligibility Center, or related areas is highly preferred.
Effective computer skills, specifically Photoshop, Canva, and Blackboard, effective written and oral communication skills, and preferably familiarity with Teamworks and C&R (recruiting software program), Banner, and CAi are strongly valued.
The ability to grasp concepts quickly and thoroughly due to the changing nature of the regulatory process from the
NCAA
, the Atlantic 10, and the federal government.
Experience working within an Athletic Department and/or as a student-athlete or at the National or Conference Office preferred.
Ability to multitask and prioritize workload along with possession of the analytical and problem-solving skills necessary to monitor a number of
NCAA
and University activities (e.g., admissions, financial aid, etc.) is desired.
Experience with fiscal management and daily operations of an intercollegiate athletics department preferred.
Strong organizational, management, and communications skills with attention to detail are desired.
Ability to work with minimal direction, be a good problem solver, and display the ability to meet deadlines.
A relevant graduate or professional degree is preferred.
