General Summary

Assist the Director for Rec/IM with the overall programmatic operations. This position will provide direct oversight of fitness, personal training, intramurals, and club sports. programming. It will be responsible for all scheduling, training, and evaluation of staff for programs. Continuously evaluate the program and stay current on trends and best practices in programming. Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Facilities to ensure equipment is safe and operational.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate graduate assistants for Intramural and club Sports, student staff for fitness, personal training, and intramural sports.
• Design and implement special recreation/intramural programs to first meet the needs of the student population, and then others as appropriate.
• Assist in developing and recommending building operational policies, interpret and enforce department and University policies, and follow through on any actions to be taken against violators.
• Conduct regular program schedules and tournament or competitive activities.
• Assist in the development of policies and procedures to ensure effective operations.
• Develop and manage area operating/personnel budgets and prioritize long-term operational needs. Provide direct oversight of personal training program. Work collaboratively with the marketing team to promote programs and services.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of program offerings to ensure we are meeting the needs of our members.
• Serve as a group fitness instructor or personal trainer as needed.
• Build strong partnerships on campus and with vendors.
• Work collaboratively with Human Resources to provide programming for faculty/staff members.
• Seek out opportunities to expand departmental revenues by offering new innovative programming.
• Serve on university and departmental committees.
• Other duties as assigned by department head.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Education, University and Student Leadership, Sports/Event Management, or a related field is required. Master's degree preferred.

Experience using Microsoft suite package (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, Visio, EMS, and/or similar software applications to prepare correspondence and technically assist customers.

Experience and/or training that demonstrates the ability to work effectively with internal and external clients and customers to identify their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, and/or satisfy their expectations by providing quality service is required.

National certification in personal training and/or group fitness is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with InnoSoft Fusion Recreation Management Software preferred.

Previous experience in recreation and facility management is preferred.

At least two years of programming experience preferred.
