EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Full-time, 10-month (August – May)

PRIMARY DUTY: This collaborative position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Student Athlete Success Program (SASP) and contributing to initiatives that enhance student success and retention, with a specific focus on student-athletes. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Academic Support, the position will also contribute to various university-wide academic support programs such as tutoring and Supplemental Instruction (SI). As the Coordinator of Academic Support for Student-Athlete Success, responsibilities also include teaching 77-150 Academic Success Coaching and 77-151 Strategies for Academic Success tailored for student-athletes. Additionally, the role involves participation in the recruitment, development, training, and supervision of student-athlete student staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality academic support services for student-athletes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Schedule, observe, and participate in SASP meetings
  • Teach/Co-teach 77-150 Academic Success Coaching and 77-151 Strategies for Academic Success for student-athletes
  • Collaborate with Student Success Coaching staff on curriculum and course outcomes for 77-150 and 151 with student athletes in mind.
  • Participate in hiring, training, and supporting SASP student mentors, providing regular, quality feedback
  • Interact with and connect student-athletes to key campus resources including advisor/success coaches and faculty
  • Track attendance/grades for every participating athlete in SASP and Success Coaching
  • Monitor SASP mentor documentation for accuracy and thoroughness
  • Use Northwest 360 to do outreach to flagged students and to monitor follow-up with campus services
  • Communicate with athletic coaches on SASP rosters. Manage the scheduled mentoring appointments for all participating students
  • Attend athletic meetings and maintain relationships with athletic administrators and coaches
  • Distribute athlete grade checks 4 times per semester to athletic staff
