Job Summary:
The Coordinator of Student- Athlete Success will interpret, analyze, and monitor the academic progress of student- athletes: assess student-athlete overall academic performance and its impact on progress toward graduation and
NCAA
eligibility: Maintain knowledge of all
NCAA
and University rules concerning academic standing and eligibility requirements. In addition, the Coordinator will also be responsible for assisting the Director of Student – Athlete Success. With the coordination of Student – Athlete Development and implementation of programming. The candidate will possess a passion for the holistic development of student- athletes. The candidate must be detailed oriented, have excellent communication skills, and meet deadlines.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities include:
·Monitor academic progress of student-athletes in compliance with
NCAA
, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the Central State University rules and regulations.
·Provides academic intervention services to support student-athlete retention, completion, and transfer preparation.
·Work with coaches, staff and professors to foster an atmosphere that retains student- athletes and culminates in graduation from the University.
·Setting educational goals, academic planning and tracking progress towards a degree.
·Performs degree audits, verifying graduation application and ensuring eligibility compliance.
·Coordinate graduation plans.
·Monitoring continuing eligibility.
·Assist with on-campus recruiting.
·Be available to work nights and weekends.
·Maintains accurate and current student-athletes files for assigned sports.
·Provide intense monitoring and academic support for student-athletes.
·Develop and oversee programming/initiatives/events.
·Assist with transcript evaluations, rule interpretation.
·Eligibility center task and signing day activities input into spry and compliance assistance.
·Ability to provide presentations on academic progress.
·Assist with student-athletes development.
·Assist with game day/ athletic activities and operations.
·Must be able to drive University van/ vehicle.
·Include to assist with initial and continuing eligibility.
·Assist in the eligibility center and transfer portal.
Qualifications
Minimum:
·Bachelor’s Degree is required in education or a related field.
·One or more years of experience in education, psychology, counseling or related field. (may include graduate assistantship or experience as a student-athlete)
·Effective written/oral communication.
·Must be computer literate.
·Must have knowledge of
NCAA
Division II Bylaws.
·Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
·Ability to work with students and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred
·Master’s Degree
·Previous experience in intercollegiate athletics
