This Counselor 2 position will be responsible for academic advising, appeal coordination, student athlete advising, transfer and re-entry application review, and degree audit programming.
Job Responsibilities:
50% - General counseling: provide academic, career, and personal guidance to E. J. Ourso College of Business students, pre-Business students in UCFY and UCAC, international students, prospective new students, transfer students, and re-entry students. Advise students on various academic procedures and regulations including but not limited to scholastic regulations, curriculum requirements, withdrawal regulations, resignations, part-time enrollment, etc. Manage a portion of the alphabet for student email inquiries, paperwork requests, and graduation related processes.
40% - Special Projects:
Coordinate college level appeal reviews, including appeal tracking, preparing appeal packets for review, and assisting in the review and decision notification process.
Coordinate student athlete certification at the college level, including course approvals, eligibility certification, and change of major paperwork. In addition, preparation of advising materials and scheduling guidance for sport specific academic advisors.
Review incoming re-entry and transfer applications to LSU.
Program, update and create degree audits for majors and minors in the Mainframe system, includes yearly updates of General Education courses and departmental curriculum changes.
10% - Other duties assigned by the Assistant Dean and Director of Academic Services, which include but are not limited to participating in recruiting events, graduation, orientation and Spring Invitational, and other assorted programming missions of the college.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education level: Bachelor's degree
Years of Experience: 1 year of related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Education level: Master's degree in Counseling, social work or a related field of behavioral science.
Specific Experience: 3 years of academic counseling experience in a university setting preferred.
