Dedicated to the delivery of exceptional clinical, sport counseling and outreach services for Cleveland State University (CSU) students-athletes. Responsible for providing confidential assessment, diagnostic, and therapeutic services, including individual and group counseling/psychotherapy, and crisis intervention services to CSU student-athletes. Develops individual client therapy plans. Designs and conducts developmental and outreach activities related to the needs of student-athletes and the athletics department. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Master’s degree preferably in counseling, social work, or related field. Master’s license in Ohio or ability to obtain license within six (6) months of hire in counseling, psychology, or social work (LPCC, LISW, LMFT, etc.) in Ohio. Until independent license is obtained, must follow required supervision. Experience and/or interest in working with student-athletes.
2 years of relevant work experience post Masters’. Masters level independent licensure Experience in outreach or prevention related to the needs of student-athletes. Experience working with a college student population. Experience working in a university/college counseling center. Experience with short-term therapy. Strong case formulation, assessment, and treatment skills in working clinically with a diversity of clients, issues, and levels of impairment. Experience providing risk assessment and crisis response.
Ability to collaborate collegially with a multidisciplinary staff, both within Athletics, the Counseling Center, and throughout the CSU community. Effective written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and decision-making abilities. Ability to effectively engage with team members when issues arise to ensure appropriate communication and develop effective resolution plans. Skilled in project management, problem-solving, analysis, follow-through, influence, and persuasion. Ability to function as systems thinker and be solution minded with a global perspective. Ability to effectively utilize an electronic medical records system. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoin
