Job Description:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

The Assistant coach at Fort Lewis College, an NCAA Division II institution in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, is responsible for assisting all aspects of an athletically competitive cross country and track & field program, including, but not limited to:

• Organizing and conducting skill instruction,practice, and training schedules for the women’s distance group.
• Effectively manage relationships with student-athletes, coaches and the broader campus community
• Strategize and meet women’s recruiting goals along with all other aspects of the evaluation of prospective student-athletes
• Provide appropriate leadership in practice and competitive environments
• Conduct sound fiscal management, and participate in fundraising activities supporting the program
• Ensure a quality student-athlete experience through community engagement, campus involvement, and competitive achievement
• Monitor academic and disciplinary standing of student-athletes
• Establish positive relationships with support staff
• Assist in planning as well as participate in cross country / track and field camps and clinics
• Represent the cross country and track and field program as designated by the head coach
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive school vehicles per board policy
• Ability to drive up to 15 passenger van/coach bus
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• One year experience coaching the sport preferred
• Experience at the NCAA DII level preferred

This position reports to the head the Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach

Travel:

Significant travel is required for off campus events.

The salary for this position is $33,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
