Job Summary

This is a Community Service Work Study student employment position. Applicants must have Federal Work Study funds in their Financial Aid package.

Share your love of soccer and athletics skills with boys and girls youth teams, ages 6 -17. Assistant Coach to one of Saints Soccer Academy’s boys & girls teams ages 6-17.

Reports on-site to Head Coach and and on-campus to Moreau Center Program Manager, Clare Kennedy.

Core Duties

Assisting Head Coach with preparing weekly coaching plans.

Coaching 2-3 practices per week. All practices take place after 5pm M-Th.

Coaching 1-2 regional and Portland area games each weekend.

Provide mentorship and guidance and be a role model for Saints Soccer Academy participants through coaching

Be a strong role model for players on and off the field

Other relevant duties as assigned

Address where work will take place: Various practice fields in Portland Metro Area (including

Delta Park, Portland State, Duniway Park, Roosevelt H.S., Columbia Park, etc.) Light travel may be needed for games.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have Federal Work Study Funds in Financial Aid package (contact finaid@up.edu with questions)

Must have background in the game of soccer.

Must be available one weekend day for games. Times and locations can vary.

Must be available 2-3 nights per week from 5-9:30pm to coach practices

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience in a school or athletic setting.

A passion for the game of soccer and the development of young players.

Excellent communicator. Ability to relate to young people.

College degree preferable, but could be substituted for experience.

Highly organized with the ability to multitask.

Extremely high ethical standards.

The ability to be a strong role model for players on and off the field.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to demonstrate soccer skills, drills, techniques.

Must be physically present at 2-3 practices and 1-2 games each weekend.
