The ISU Athletics department has part-time job opportunities for reliable, honest, detail oriented people on our facilities team. Our custodial team provide essential services that support assigned buildings and events hosted by the Athletics Department to ensure a safe and clean environment for students, staff and guests.
This is a great side job. Currently seeking applicants who can work evening shifts, 4-9pm or 7-10pm. Approximately 10-25 hours per week. Shift available weekdays and weekends. These casual hourly positions are limited to working up to 780 hours for ISU each fiscal year and are not eligible for insurance benefits.
Pay rate: $15.63/hour.
Requires ability to carry out assigned tasks independently. Must be able to effectively interact with guests and staff in a customer service oriented role.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities, includes but not limited to
• Performs cleaning of floor areas such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, picking up trash on ground
• Checks and restocks paper products and soap in restrooms
• Wipes down surfaces, disinfects, dusts and cleans up spills
• Clean locker rooms, bathrooms, dressing rooms, offices, and common spaces
• Collects and empties trash cans
• General event upkeep and cleaning services during and after events to restore building
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of standard cleaning techniques and characteristics of surfaces to be cleaned, and equipment and supplies required.
• Ability to move furniture and objects in preparation for cleaning; to load and unload trash receptacles; to operate safely and properly care for power machinery; to use arm muscles in hand cleaning, mopping, and scrubbing for protracted periods of time; to work on ladders.
• Knowledge of proper bending and lifting techniques and ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a variety of environments including crowded public areas and high and low temperature areas.
• Knowledge of the safe use if chemical cleaning agents and possible hazards relating to environmental sanitation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
