Defensive Assistant Football Coach/Special Teams Coordinator
Apply NowThe Assistant Football Coach works as a member of the Athletic Department. Responsibilities include planning and assisting in the conditioning, training, and performance of student-athletes, along with fiscal management, for a
NAIA
football program.
Direct instruction of student-athletes relative to the skills and strategies necessary to compete in football at the collegiate level.
Develop coaching techniques, players and overall strategies; evaluate individual performances and provide leadership and instruction in areas deemed necessary for success.
Conduct comprehensive recruiting activities, coordinate with Admissions Office to establish academic eligibility and possible financial aid packages.
Participate in fundraising, public relations activities, e.g., public appearances, attendance at conferences, etc.
Ensure compliance with
NAIA
rules and regulations.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Valid driver’s license required.
Collegiate or high school coaching experience preferred, or having played the sport at a high level (i.e. college or professional).
Coaching strategies specific to football.
Knowledge of
NCAA
and
NAIA
rules for football.
Familiarity with
NAIA
rules and procedures.
Instructing student-athletes relative to specific skill necessary to compete in collegiate football.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, legal documents, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to effectively present information to Senior Staff, public groups, managers and employees.
Instructing student-athletes relative to specific skill necessary to compete in collegiate football.
Ability to insist on exemplary student-athlete behaviors both on campus and in public.
Ability to have a strong focus on student-athlete academic success.
Consistent and clear communication to head coach about student-athlete progress.
Ability to develop leadership skills in students.
Ability to be discrete in handling confidential matters, while complying with
FERPA
regulations.
Ability to adhere to University & departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to be able to stay in an outdoor environment for long periods of time.
Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Ability to drive student-athletes to contests.
Ability to be able to travel on charter bus and supervise large groups.
Ability to be available for early morning, evening, weekends and overnight trips.
Ability to complete all physical tasks as needed.
