PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS JOB:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned)
Staff and manage winter and spring home intercollegiate contests and special community functions involving athletic facilities.
Secure timers, scorers, and other personnel needed for the direct operation of home athletic contests in cooperation with other athletic staff.
Prepare facilities for winter and spring home intercollegiate contests.
Directly supervise work study students involved in facilities management.
Observe players while they perform to determine need for individual or team improvement.
Coach players individually or in groups, demonstrating techniques of sport coached.
Oversee daily practice of players to instruct them in areas of deficiency.
Determine strategy during game, independently or in conference with head coach based on factors as weakness in opposing team.
Implement appropriate coaching techniques involving fundamental skills and strategy.
Ensure that the policies, procedures, and regulations of organizations Misericordia belongs to including NCAA, and MAC are adhered to. Maintain a working knowledge of pertinent standards established by these organizations.
Develop and implement a vigorous program of student-athlete recruitment and retention.
Provide leadership in establishing, regulating, publicizing and enforcing all team regulations regarding personal conduct.
Cooperate with the Athletic Trainer and other university health personnel in the care and prevention of injury. In conjunction with the athletic trainer, notify the university health personnel and the Director of Athletics concerning all injuries requiring attention by a physician.
Cooperate in the delivery of a program of social and education support for athletes.
REQUIREMENTS:(Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)
Education
Bachelor's degree required.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years of related experience and/or preparation.
Background in coaching quarterbacks and wide receivers preferred.
Work-Related Knowledge
Proven ability to coach effectively at the intercollegiate level.
