William & Mary Intercollegiate Athletics seeks an engaging and dynamic individual to serve as Deputy Director of Athletics. The Deputy will be a senior member of the Director of Athletics’ leadership team will serve as a primary advisor for the Director and the department, with responsibility for a portfolio of internal functions and operations. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and will have responsibility for the following areas:
Management and coordination of capital projects, facilities, equipment, championships, event management, and all related staff
Serve as a key leader in the department and take an active role in developing the culture, overall performance, and success of the entire enterprise.
Serve as liaison to key campus and conference constituents.
Serve as Sport Administrator for assigned sport(s).
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Significant and progressive experience in several of the following areas: sports management, capital projects, facilities, higher education, strategic planning and leadership (typically seven+ years of experience).
Experience with brand management, creative campaigns, multimedia technology and communication plans.
Proven capability to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate and advance strategic plans and programs that support the Athletic Department mission and contribute to the overall goals and objectives of the programs reporting to this role.
Utilize expertise to devise strategic and innovative solutions to advance the department’s efforts to maintain and strengthen high-quality relationships with all audiences.
Proficient with managing multi-phase projects from inception to completion, building consensus among team members and balancing concurrent priorities.
Displays excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a demonstrated commitment to integrity, inclusion, and diversity and an understanding and commitment to student-athlete well- being.
Master’s degree in sports management, higher education, or a directly related field
Experience at the Division 1 level
experience with budget development
Progressive responsibility in supervisory, managerial, or leadership role
Understanding of
NCAA
rules and regulations
up to $150,000
All hiring rates are commensurate with relevant experience up to the advertised amount considering internal alignment.
