Serves as the primary media relations contact for the Boise State men’s basketball and men’s golf programs by growing the reach and storytelling of the teams’ student-athletes, coaches and staff to local, regional and national media as well as on Boise State’s owned channels. Organize and coordinate game management staffing for assigned sports and assist with other athletic media relations staff’s sports when needed.
Publish and update game results, game stories, statistics, and general information on the web in relation to assigned sports as well as make sure the website is up to date with information about Boise State teams, coaches, student-athletes, and other activities in the athletic department.
Coordinate interviews, correspondence, and media relations with media outlets, opponents, and conference office, in relation to assigned sports.
Facilitate the gathering, reporting, and archiving of statistics and photos for assigned sports.
Assist in oversight of office staff, including mentorship to Assistant Director(s), and oversight of graduate assistants and/or undergraduate students.
Represent the university at necessary community functions.
35% of Time the Director, Athletic Media Relations
Travel to away games with the men’s basketball team
Work home football games as needed
Social media management for assigned sports
5% of Time the Communications Specialist, Senior
Perform other duties as assigned
Ability to multitask, work effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Problem-solving skills involving groups and/or events
Strong knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations regarding compliance issues
Strong knowledge and experience of journalism or media/public relations
Bachelor Degree with at least 5 years experiences.
Three (3) years experience in a collegiate athletic media relations office.
Three (3) years experience working in a Division I athletics department.
Two (2) years experience working with a Division I Men's Basketball program.
