ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for all aspects of the intercollegiate athletics program.
Provides information, reports, and schedules to the Sr. Vice President of Student Affairs
Prepares and recommends budgets for the Athletics Department.
Supervises and evaluates staff in the Athletics Department.
Serves as a member of the Council on Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and other committees as assigned.
Monitors and evaluates the academic performance of student/athletes in programs and courses and works with appropriate staff on means of improvement and retention.
Ensures that appropriate records are maintained for the Athletic Department.
Recommends to the Sr. Vice President of Student Affairs all athletic activities, schedules, athletic scholarships and is responsible for all athletic eligibility reporting.
Recruits, coordinates search committees, and recommends the employment of full and part-time athletics staff.
Ensures college compliance with gender equity in athletics.
Assists other College officials in resolving faculty and student/athlete problems related to Athletic Department activities.
Coordinates a student development program for student athletes.
Provides management of Physical Fitness Center, including scheduling of all classes and events in the facility.
Attends all required athletics-related conferences, State and regional meetings as a representative of the College.
Provides leadership in developing plans for facility improvements to meet the needs of the athletic program.
Represents the College within the conference, Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) and National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) and assures appropriate representation to meet the best interests of student athletes.
Demonstrates compliance with the principles of FCSAA and NJCAA rules and regulations.
Responsible for the financial management of the athletic department including the oversight of all fundraising activities to ensure adherence to college policies.
Responsible for coordinating with the Sr. Vice President of Student Affairs and Marketing and Communications Department, a marketing plan and community and media relations related to athletics.
Responsible for year-end inventory of equipment and supplies.
Serves as Chair of the Athletic Committee. Coordinates with the committee any recommended changes to the operations of the Intercollegiate Athletic Program. Submits these recommendations to the Council on Student Affairs & Enrollment Management.
Assists with developing and implementing appropriate goals and objectives in the College's Strategic Plan.
Monitors and coordinates the college athletic web pages with the coaching staff.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution
Three year’s college coaching experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Ability to lead
Ability to effectively communicate
Ability to travel as needed.
Experience with basic computer software knowledge and skills
Skills in social media
Able to work independently including, some evenings and weekends
Ability to have and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
