DIRECTOR / FACULTY & STAFF AFFAIRS / ATHLETICS
As a member of the Athletic department’s administrative team, the Assistant Director of Athletics Faculty and Staff Affairs is responsible for the daily administration, implementation, consultancy and facilitation of human resources processes for all the faculty and staff within the athletic department along with assisting with other internal affairs within the athletic department, including internal operations, reporting, communications,

coordination and adherence to Federal, State, University,

, and department controls, policies, and procedures.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience equating to four years.
Two years of relevant experience, preferably in human resources, university or business affairs/operations.
Familiarity with human resources processes and systems.
Strong interpersonal skills including a positive attitude.
Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite software.
Experience using business management software programs.
Experience working with financial documents and processes.
Familiarity with personnel contracts.
Ability to develop and use spreadsheets and databases.
Ability to manage complex tasks effectively.
Demonstrated problem solving ability.
Organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Project management skills including ability to manage multiple projects.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements.
Familiarity with State and Federal human resources rules/policies and systems.
Experience with university human resources.
Experience in Collegiate Athletics administration.
Experience with
SAP
software.
Serves as primary liaison to the university’s Human Resources (HR) and Faculty Personnel Services (
FPS
) departments.
Creates job descriptions and postings for positions.
Tracks and processes all contingency bonuses for coaches and the
AVP
/Director of Athletics.
Reviews and provides recommendations on all head and assistant coach employment contracts and amendments.
Coordinates hiring, on boarding, training, and supervision of part-time and full-time staff.
Serves as the benefits point of contact for Athletics faculty and staff.
Conducts exit interviews with departing staff.
Monitors performance and probationary reviews.
Educates and trains hiring managers and search committees on the search process.
Ensures the department operates within established federal, state, conference,
NCAA
and university procedures as it relates to internal reporting.
Manages department employee certification records including athletic trainers, strength & conditioning and
CPR
/
AED
.
Networks with industry professionals and organizations to stay current on
NCAA
,
MAC
and Intercollegiate Athletics trends and standards.
Manages department
NACDA
memberships.
Annually updates the
NCAA
,
MAC
benchmarking salary and department financial database.
Coordinates the volunteer waiver process and background checks for Athletics.
Assists with internal and external audits.
Develops, implements and oversees systems and quality controls for internal and office operations (Perceptive Content, departments shared drives, TimeClock Plus,
SAP
).
In conjunction with the university’s HR and
FPS
departments, manages department
FMLA
, workers compensation, employment contracts, performance reviews, personnel files, job descriptions and new hire orientations.
Manages departmental organizational chart and phone directory for all administrative units and sports.
Coordinates all
FOIA
requests directed to the Athletic department in conjunction with university general counsel.
In coordination with the
AVP
/Director of Athletics, serves as the senior manger approving authority in CMU’s HR systems.
Assists in the departmental budget development process and financial pro forma.
Coordinates salary forecasting for financial pro forma.
Serves as Athletics business office liaison for assigned sports and administrative units.
Provides direction and leadership to improve internal operations including interpreting and applying university HR and business expense policies and procedures for Athletics.
Serves as lead recruitment and staffing contact for faculty and staff positions.
Manages complex personnel issues in collaboration with HR and
FPS
.
Assists with access management (keys) for new and departing employees.
Assists with camps/clinics (employment process, policy development, other).
Assists with athletic and special events.
Assists with the internship program.
Directly oversees one full time Senior Office Specialist position.
Special projects and other duties as assigned.
