Job Summary:  The Director of Football Performance Nutrition develops and coordinates optimal nutritional services for Division I football student athletes. Cultivates a comprehensive, optimal fueling environment for all football student athletes. Collaborates with the dining operations, smoothie bar, and recovery nutrition fueling stations. Provides individual and group/team nutrition counseling and education to enhance the performance of competitive student athletes on-site and during travel. Provides direction and communicates the value of nutrition programming specifically designed to promote the health and performance of student athletes. Translates the latest scientific evidence into practical sports nutrition recommendations and implementing within Division I sport environment.

Additional Department Summary:  Oversees the development and coordination of optimal nutritional services for Division I football student athletes. Cultivates a comprehensive, optimal fueling environment for all football student athletes, including collaboration with the dining operations, smoothie bar and recovery nutrition fueling stations while also providing individual and group/team nutrition counseling and education to enhance the performance of competitive student athletes, on site and during travel. Provides direction and communicate the value of nutrition programming specifically designed to promote the health and performance of student athletes. Provides clinical assessment, nutrition care, and counseling. Provides individual and team education on daily nutrition for performance and health. Translates the latest scientific evidence into practical sports nutrition recommendations and implements within Division I sport environment. Tracks and documents outcomes of nutrition services. Manages body composition data. Serves as a food and nutrition resource for administration, coaches, sports medicine staff, support staff, and parents. Provides sports nutrition education to optimize health, wellness, and individual and team performance.

Required Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health, exercise physiology, or other nutrition/dietetics related degree and six (6) years of experience; OR master's degree in in nutrition, dietetics, public health, exercise physiology, or other nutrition/dietetics related degree and four (4) experience. Registered Dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association; Certification/Licensure as required by state of practice.

Skills and Knowledge:  Comprehensive knowledge and application of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and coaching and interviewing skills. Excellent communication, presentation, and counseling skills. Ability to accurately measure height and body weight. Ability to accurately assess body composition (body mass, body fat, and muscle mass) using various diagnostic measures available. Ability to accurately assess and evaluate energy balance. Knowledge of eating disorder/disorder eating signs and symptoms. Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy, including interviewing and education techniques. Self-motivation and ability to work independently. Excellent time management, organizational, and record-keeping skills. Knowledge of complementary medicine, ergogenic aids, and nutritional supplements, including herbal supplements. Competence with nutrient analysis, word processing, and presentation software.

Ability to maintain compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA). Knowledge of rules and regulations of athletic governing bodies (National Collegiate Athletic Association, US Anti- Doping Agency, World Anti-Doping Agency, regarding banned drugs, restricted substances, etc.). Knowledge of measurements of resting metabolic rate, energy expenditure, VO2max, and lactate threshold. Knowledge of food service quality and safety procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:  Experience in the collegiate athletic setting preferred.
