The Director, Football Rehabilitation, directs and leads the rehabilitative services of football as the primary sport assignment, with other duties as deemed necessary. The incumbent oversees the day-to-day supervision of all football physical therapy-related care and efficient management of quality service. The Director, Football Rehabilitation, ensures effective and efficient workflow, working with residents, staff, and other stakeholders.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Evaluates, treats, and manages the rehabilitation of University of Miami Department of Athletics student-athletes. Develops and executes individual, student-athlete-centered care plans, activity progressions, and post-operative rehabilitation protocols. Provides quality, personalized, and evidence-based care with best available interventions. Consults and practices with other members of the Athletics Staff (strength coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, coaching staff, etc.). Provides effective and concise communication regarding student-athlete status and care with members of coaching staff, administration, and medical staff. Promotes, facilitates, and sets an example of lifelong learning, critical thinking, and creativity. Follows guidelines, laws, and standards set by Professional, Federal, and State Licensing board. Establishes and updates student-athlete and staff electronic medical record and hard file. Documents objective findings, treatments, doctor appointments, correspondence from doctors, diagnostic testing, and any other relevant medical information. Communicates, coordinates, and updates student-athletes’ rehabilitation throughout the off-season for injuries sustained during the season. Assists in research and development of pre-operative, surgical, and post-operative data/best practices across sports as related to pathologies, injury trends and return to play progressions. Conducts scientific assessment, student-athlete monitoring, and evaluation procedures. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
