Job Summary

Coordinates and directs the strength, conditioning, and athletic performance activities for the football program. Directs and coordinates the conditioning of student athletes to achieve maximum athletic performance. Instructs players in proper techniques for strength and conditioning. Directs recruitment and retention of football student-athletes. Responsible for supervising other staff, coaches, and interns.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*:
1. Plans, coordinates, and administers the strength and conditioning program for the football program
2. Develops athletic training progressions for all football student-athlete programs to ensure safety, decrease risk of injury and improve athletic performance
3. Supervises all assigned staff, students and/or interns ensuring the use of sound and safe coaching techniques and practices
4. Serves as the lead sports performance staff member for football
5. Collaborates with athletic trainers in designing injury prevention and injury reconditioning programs
6. Responsible for the scheduling and maintenance of the football training facilities
7. Responsible for tracking and reporting all injuries incurred while training to head football athletic trainer and coach
8. Oversees assigned budget for the football sports performance department
9. Leads department-wide priorities, projects and initiatives associated with assigned area
10. Assists in the preparation of football student-athletes for Conference Championships and post-season competition

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related field

Other Required Qualifications
One of the major industry certifications (USAW, CSCS, NSCA, SCCC)
CPR and AED certification

Required Experience
Five (5) years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Exercise Physiology or related field

Demonstrated ability and success with an intercollegiate athletic program
Evidence of ability to prioritize and oversee employees under supervision
Able to organize and motivate student-athletes to achieve a maximum performance level
Able to serve as a spokesperson for the intercollegiate athletic program
Able to maintain an effective professional working relationship with student-athletes, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and the public
Able to deal with multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE
Extensive knowledge in the discipline of Strength, Conditioning and Athletic Performance
Extensive knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all NCAA, Conference USA, State of Georgia and university policies, rules and regulations
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
