The Director, Intercollegiate Athletics is a full-time, 12-month position responsible to the Associate Vice-Provost, Student Affairs. The Director, Intercollegiate Athletics is responsible for oversight of all coaching staff and all aspects of athletic programs at Tyler Junior College including responsibility for adherence to the National Junior College Athletic Association policies and guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities
Supervise all staff (coaches, trainer, and support staff) involved in intercollegiate athletics insuring adherence to the Tyler Junior College Athletic Policy Manual and the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Develop, recommend, and provide general oversight for budgets in each area of intercollegiate athletics.
Approving the purchase of all intercollegiate athletic equipment and supplies and requests for reimbursement.
Coordinate the development of schedules for all intercollegiate athletic events
Secure and schedule appropriate personnel (clock keeper, announcer, ticket sellers, ushers, score keeper, etc.) for all athletic events.
Coordinate with campus safety to provide security at all athletic events.
Coordinate with financial services to provide controls on ticket sales and other cash receipts.
Interview and recommend personnel for employment in intercollegiate athletics.
Coordinate with alumni, and the Tyler Junior College Foundation on the efforts of the Lettermen’s Club and other groups in an effort to raise funds for intercollegiate athletics.

Represent the College at intercollegiate athletics meetings.
Represent the College in all public relations matters.
Make recommendations for improvement of athletic facilities and equipment
Coordinate communication between administration, coaching staff, and instructional staff.
Coordinate athletic University Interscholastic League events on the Tyler Junior College campus.
Coordinate with master calendar personnel and schedule approved events for Wagstaff Gym, Tyler Junior College tennis courts, and Pat Hartley Field, and maintain department calendar for these facilities.
Approve all athletic vehicle usage and travel requests.

Knowledge of the financial workings of a comprehensive athletic program and NJCAA rules and regulations
Skill in employing and supervising a diverse staff
Skill in oral and written communication, marketing, public relations, and fund-raising
Must be committed to affirmative action, gender equity, and the academic success of the student athletes.
Qualifications
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Experience as athletic director or senior administrator in intercollegiate athletics.

Must exhibit a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and to staff and students with disabilities.
Will be required to provide oversight for the athletic kinesiology activity courses that are facilitated by the coaching staff, including training of coaching staff, classroom observations, academic evaluations, and facilitation of payment for adjunct assignments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
