The Director of Multimedia and Production is responsible for creating content and producing live events on behalf of the University’s 16-team Division I intercollegiate athletics program.
Essential Job Duties:
Apply NowManage and oversee the Athletic Multimedia and Production operation that currently includes one assistant director and two 03 positions. This position will also oversee all production staff on game days for all sports. Duties include the hiring and oversight of a full production crew, consisting of but not limited to play-by-play and color commentary analysts, all camera operators and in-studio production crews. Work with Athletic Business Office staff to ensure timely payment of independent contractors.
Serve as producer/director for all NESN, ESPN and AmericaEast.TV live events. Production levels should be at the highest level in the conference and among regional competitors. Schedule, prepare and execute ESPN-platform broadcasts across all sports to ensure that increasing America East and Hockey East contractual obligations are met (averaging 150 events per year).
Work with Assoc. AD for Communications to develop creative content strategy and manage the creation of videos from filming to editing for all sports teams for social media and goriverhawks.com in order aid with recruiting, retention and fundraising. Creative videos range from features on student-athletes and coaches, to pregame hype videos, highlights, reels, gifs, etc.
Produce content for special events to spread brand awareness of UMass Lowell Athletics. Work closely with corporate sponsorship and marketing department to promote our sponsors, alumni and upcoming home events, in addition to encouraging donations/philanthropy.
Schedule and train interns, as well as freelance and student staff. Cultivate relationships across campus with University Relations and Digital Media Major/Minor to create feeder system for ESPN branded events.
Work with Assoc. AD for Communications to help manage budget for all expenses in regards to equipment necessary to produce required content/events. In addition, manage a budget to hire all required game day staff. Stay within budget but also maintain market rate to not compromise production quality
Assist with the operation, maintenance, and updating of Tsongas Center A/V Room, in conjunction with full-time arena video staff.
Build a video archive of key players and moments through original shooting at games, which is an essential building block in putting together future video requests.
Travel with teams as necessary to provide video coverage of select events, including regular-season and post-season contests.
