Expired Date: Oct 26, 2024Under the general supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services, the Director of Academics & Career will provide comprehensive leadership to the Learning Support team through creation and implementation of a learning support vision, which will include collaboration within our tutoring program and fostering relationships with campus partners that provide additional academic support to our student-athletes. This position will serve on the Leadership Team within Academics & Career and will play a major role for casting vision for the greater Academics & Career Team.
This position will also provide intensive one-on-one academic support and skill development to an assigned group of identified student-athletes, some of whom may have diagnosed or undiagnosed disabilities or disorders which impact academic performance while also developing and facilitating academic programming for larger groups of student-athletes as needed. This position will play a role in assessing educational documentation and testing and will work with the unit's liaison to campus's disability services office. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required to meet with current or prospective student-athletes. Additional administrative duties as assigned.
Leads one or more major operations of the academic advising unit and assists in the development of strategy, policy, and protocol. Administers services and cultivates relationships to support student academic progress within a school, college or institution, to ensure that all students receive quality academic support. Represents the director when needed and strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment. - 20% Leads one or more major operations of the advising unit and plans and directs staff implementation of academic services, related programs, and other events - 10% Assists in the development of strategic planning initiatives to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, and staffing resources, and alignment with the strategic plan - 10% Assists in the development of operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives - 10% Reviews and makes recommendations for exceptions to academic policies, procedures, and requirements for students - 20% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees - 10% Serves as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders to maintain campus partnerships - 20% Works with students one-on-one and in small groups to assist skill development by teaching study skills and promoting skill development within the content areas of the student's courses

The starting salary for the position is $65,000, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
