Job Description

About Culver-Stockton College: Culver-Stockton College is a dynamic and student-centered institution located in the heart of the Midwest. With a commitment to providing a transformative educational experience, we prepare our students for success both in their careers and as responsible citizens in a global society.

Position Description: Culver-Stockton College is seeking a Director of Athletic Bands. This is a full-time position beginning in the fall of 2026 and reports to the Director of Athletics. The successful candidate will serve as director of the "Thrill on the Hill" Marching Band and Pep Band, and work with the Admissions Office to recruit fine arts students. While the position is open to any qualified candidate, preference will be given to candidates that can teach private lessons in either brass or percussion instruments. While the primary responsibility of this position is to grow and maintain the band, collaboration as appropriate with music department faculty is expected and, if credentialed, some teaching of music courses is possible.

Responsibilities:

  • The individual will primarily be responsible for developing and providing leadership for the Marching Band and Pep Band programs.
  • Enter the "Thrill on the Hill" band in the homecoming parade, Hannibal Band Day, and Quincy Dogwood Parade along with such other parades as determined each year.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Athletics to schedule performances at home football games and home basketball games as determined each year.
  • Recruit students for the athletic bands and fine arts areas, regularly contacting prospective students through a variety of platforms, setting up and attending area school visits, helping to coordinate college visit days, and working in tandem with the college admissions and marketing offices for recruitment efforts.
  • Work closely with the financial aid office to coordinate scholarship offers for athletic band and fine arts prospective students.
  • Maintain active engagement with student retention efforts and provides oversight of student workers.
  • Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues and have a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education.
