The purpose of the Director of Athletic Business Operations position is to manage the Athletics Business Office by ensuring that the University assets are protected through evaluation of financial activities within the athletics department. This position will be responsible for adherence to external and internal regulations, management of business office operations, and assistance with athletics budget development and management.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages daily departmental business office transactions and ensures a system of checks and balances within the athletics department. Reviews departmental transactions to ensure expenses are charged to appropriate accounts, funding sources, and programs.
Assists all intercollegiate programs with managing expenses, payment of bills, and operating within budget parameters. Verifies purchase requisitions, travel expense accounts, check requests, and personnel forms for accuracy in preparation, coding, and adherence to University of Louisiana System, university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Monitors athletics operating budgets and account balances on a routine basis and works with coaches and departmental staff to address budget variances, anticipated expenditures, and funding needs.
Enhances an organization that executes the business of Division I athletics while also being a committed partner with the academic community.
Implements plans, policies, procedures, and programs that are in compliance with the University of Louisiana System, university, conference, NCAA rules and regulations, applicable state and federal laws, and which promote the mission of the Department, as well as the University’s high standard of academic excellence and the general welfare of student-athletes.
Helps ensure an environment that is committed to the best interest of student-athletes consistent with their educational, ethical, social, and physical development.
Oversees department’s travel credit card and purchasing card program. Serves as a departmental liaison with athletic travel partners (Christopherson, STM Charters, Enterprise, etc.)
Makes sound decisions with regard to all Department matters, including financial and human resources, strategic planning, facility planning.
Promotes and protects the Department’s financial self-sufficiency in a manner consistent with the university’s mission, vision, and operating policies and procedures.
Effectively provide accountability for all fiscal matters within the department of athletics in collaboration with the Athletics Director.
Updates and communicates travel policies and regulation changes to athletics staff and coaches. Implements best practices for athletics travel.

Assists with the preparation and completion of the Annual NCAA & EADA Financial Reports.
Serves as a liaison with University procurement, accounting, and Payroll/HR.
Advises Athletics Director on financial-related matters including budget forecast.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Three years of experience in collegiate athletics or related field.
Ability to multi-task, work independently and provide leadership for the athletics department as it relates to the business operations.
Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
