Meredith College is an NCAA Division III all-women’s college. Meredith sponsors 12 varsity sports and anticipates the addition of a 13th in the near future. The Director of Athletic Communications/Game Day Operations plays a pivotal role in advancing the visibility, professionalism, and excellence of the Avenging Angels athletics program. This position requires a highly skilled, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy communicator capable of managing fast-paced environments, multiple priorities, and a broad portfolio of media, technology, and event operations responsibilities.
The Director of Athletic Communications/Game Day Operations oversees all facets of athletic communications, media relations, statistical reporting, and game day event operations for Meredith College Athletics. The role requires expertise in writing, content creation, live production, website and database management, statistical software, and the supervision of student workers and event staff. This individual works collaboratively with coaches, administrators, campus marketing, and the conference office to ensure exceptional coverage and professional game operations for all home events.
Duties:
Athletic Communications, Media Relations & Content Creation – 40%
- Manage all aspects of athletic media relations and athletic communications for Meredith’s varsity programs.
- Coordinate media day sessions, including scheduling teams and hiring photographers.
- Promote games, athletes, team achievements, and special events to campus, the USA South Conference, and local media.
- Produce high-quality written content, including game recaps, feature stories, press releases, and award nominations.
- Create and curate engaging multimedia content for social media platforms, including graphics (Canva, Boxout, Adobe), photography coordination, video clips, and storytelling features.
- Produce and manage live stream broadcasts for all home events (Hudl/Production Truck), including setup, graphics, troubleshooting, and breakdown of all streaming equipment.
- Oversee award nominations for student-athletes, coaches, and programs to the USA South, NCAA, and other outlets.
- Maintain historical statistics for accuracy and documentation.
- Travel as needed for coverage of select road or postseason events.

Website Management, Statistical Reporting & Historical Records – 30%
- Oversee the official athletics website, including contract management, design updates, content creation, coach/student-athlete bios, schedules, rosters, and news releases.
- Post game scores, statistics, and multimedia content immediately following events.
- Manage live stat links, livestream links, archives, and troubleshooting needs.
- Operate and maintain statistical software (NCAA Live Stats, PrestoSports, others) for all applicable sports.
- Serve as the official statistician during all home events
- Post event, upload and submit all required data to the NCAA, conference office, and Meredith website in a timely manner.
- Maintain, organize, and verify detailed historical statistics for all sports; prepare visually appealing archival documents for website placement.
- Oversee Hall of Fame historical records and nominations; manage Rocket Alumni Solutions software and archives.
Game Day Operations & Event Management – 30%
- Coordinate and execute all aspects of game day operations for approximately 12–13 varsity sports.
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise 20–30 student workers and a consistent game day staff. Oversee an event staff of approximately 10 workers per event, ensuring professionalism and coverage quality.
- Work with outside agency to negotiate professional staffing as needed for home events.
- Manage event staffing paperwork with Human Resources and oversee compliance with hiring processes.
- Supervise press box and scorer’s table operations, including PA announcers, scoreboard operators, stat crew, and livestream personnel.
- Prepare venues and technology for competition, including setup and breakdown of livestream equipment, statistical workstations, and communications devices.
- Ensure accurate statistical inputting during contests in coordination with stat callers and table staff.
- Submit all post-event statistics and documentation promptly to required governing bodies.
- Maintain media areas and equipment, ensuring functionality and readiness for all events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
- 2-3 years of professional experience in collegiate athletic communications, sports information preferred, or media relations.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva/Boxout, NCAA Live Stats/Genius, Presto, SIDEARM or similar CMS, Microsoft Office, and all major social media platforms.
- Experience with live video production and statistical reporting in sports such as volleyball, soccer, basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, softball, and others.
- Strong technical aptitude with website management, data entry, streaming equipment, and multimedia tools.
- NC Driver License and clean driving history is required.
- Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as required.

Physical Demans & Work Environment:
- Frequent use of computers, cameras, and office equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry and/or push/pull equipment (up to 40 lbs.).
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions during athletic events.
- Must be able to meet regular and predictable attendance standards.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop or bend.
Language Skills:
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written English skills including grammar.
Mathematical Skills:
- Must be competent in general math.
Technical Skills:
- Preferred experience with Word, Excel, Adobe Suite, Statcrew, NCAA Genius, SIDEARM, Presto and other NCAA uploading/database systems;
- Must possess knowledge of general office procedures;
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills;
- Must take pride in and be thorough in quality of work produced;
- Must be able to use general office equipment including office PC, copier, telephone, etc.
